School Readiness and Superior North Community Report Cards
Brass Bell FRC/OEYC assists in implementing the Early Development Instrument (EDI).
The EDI is a population measure observing school readiness levels among child populations. The results are put into context with socio-economic data referring to the child population: income level, family structure, education level, birth weights and available screening etc. on a community level.
The socio-economic data together with the EDI results compose a community report card.
The EDI data collection is overseen by the Offord Centre for Child Studies on a provincial and national level being part of Understanding the Early Years (UEY) initiative by Human Resources and Social Development Canada.
The district of Thunder Bay Superior North had two opportunities to participate in the Early Development Instrument: in the school year 2001/2002 and 2005/2006.
A participation in the EDI on an annual or bi-annual basis would be ideal for establishing base line data.
Brass Bell FRP/OEYC would like to express sincere thanks to all participating school boards, schools and SK teachers! It would have not been possible without you!
