Community Service Inventory/Directory
As part of the Ontario Early Years Initiative, communities have been asked to complete an inventory of programs and services for children and their parents and caregivers. The primary purpose of the inventory is to assist communities in identifying gaps and strengths in programs and services that promote early childhood development. An analysis of the Community Service Inventory (CSI) supports evidence-based program planning:
-
Reduction of service duplication
-
Enhancing program strengths
-
Maximizing resources
-
Making best decisions for children
-
Developing community profiles and community report cards
Brass Bell FRC/OEYC offers a short version of the Community Service Inventory in form of a community service directory. In this directory, the contact information and a short description of programs and services are listed.
Often parents and caregivers lack information regarding programs and services available to them and their children. Families new to the community find a service listing very helpful. In the district of Superior North, services for children and families are offered through government funded agencies, clubs and volunteer organizations, municipalities, and private instructors. The community service directory provides an opportunity to find these services and for the services to be found. Programs and services are listed in alphabethical order by community (Armstrong to Terrace Bay).
