School Readiness and Thunder Bay Superior North Region Community Report Cards
The Brass Bell Family Resource Centre assists in implementing the Early Development Instrument (EDI).
The EDI is a population measure observing school readiness levels among child populations. The results are put into context with socio-economic data referring to the child population: income level, family structure, education level, birth weights and available screening on a community level.
The socio-economic data together with the EDI results in a community report card.
The EDI data collection is overseen by the Offord Centre for Child Studies on a provincial and national level being part of Understanding the Early Years (UEY) initiative by Human Resources and Social Development Canada.
The Thunder Bay Superior North Region participated in the Early Development Instrument: for the school years 2005/2006 and 2008/2009 and will once again take part in the 2011/2012 cycle.
The Brass Bell Family Resource Centre and our Best Start locations would like to express sincere thanks to all participating school boards, schools and SK teachers! It would have not been possible without you!
